Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't yet hold a First Aid at Work qualification?

You'll need to obtain a First Aid at Work (RQF) certificate - minimum 3-day course —-before your CPO start date, with at least 12 months' validity remaining. HZL can arrange First Aid training alongside your CPO booking so the timing works. Contact us to discuss.

Can I apply if I have experience but no formal security qualifications?

Yes - prior experience in the military, police, or private security is valued, but it doesn't replace the formal entry requirements. Age, language, and first aid criteria apply regardless of background. If you're unsure, contact us before booking and we'll give you a straight answer.

Is there any flexibility with the physical fitness requirement?

The course includes physical intervention training and live assessed exercises. It is demanding but not extreme - you should arrive in good general health and fitness. If you have a medical condition that may affect participation, discuss this with us before booking. We'll give you an honest assessment.

What should I do if I don't pass the assessment on my first attempt?

Assessment runs throughout the 18 days - it's not a single high-stakes exam at the end. If you fall short on a specific element, you'll have a clear picture of where and why. Our instructors will advise on the most appropriate next step, which may include the Level 2 Close Protection Refresher course.

Can I use my Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) to fund the course?

Yes. HZL are an ELCAS-approved provider (No. 10713). If you're eligible for Enhanced Learning Credits, you can use them to fund all or part of this course. Contact us with your ELC details and we'll walk you through the process.

Ready to Enrol?

Our instructors have operational backgrounds in military and policing - not just training rooms. If you want an honest conversation about whether you're ready, what to expect, or how to prepare, speak to us directly. No sales pitch.
